Personal Details

I was born in 1958, and lived on Long Island in a town called Wantaugh NY. I attended school there through the end of the 9th grade, and moved to a city in Upstate New York called Gloversville, an old city in decline. Gloversville had problems because of tariffs, when the government removed tariffs, the industry was unable to sustain the high cost of the Union labor, so the industry almost died. The Gloves (hence the name GLOVErsville, get it?) made in town were very high quality, but priced out of the market due to the cost's of manufacture. But this page was about me (more boring then life in Gloversville) I graduated from Gloversville High School on the 28th day of June in 1976, 2 day's later, I was on my way to Parris Island, South Carolina.

As a United States Marine, I was privileged to serve in some exotic locations, I spent a year in NAS Memphis for school, I went to MCAS Iwakuni Japan, This was my first exposure to a foreign culture and I learned to respect the way others lived, and to appreciate our lives here back in the land of the big PX. then I spent 2 years in MCDEC Quantico, where I saw some of the gear the Marine Corps was thinking of buying. I bought my first computer around this time, a Trash-80 (TRS 80) with a whopping 16k of ram (I've upgraded slightly since then) This look into the Future was what convinced me to reenlist the first time. I spent the next 4 years in the most awful place (make me suffer more, Please!!) MCAS Kaneohe (that's Hawaii folks). After a stop in NAS Memphis for more then year of additional schooling, I moved to MCAS New River, Jacksonville NC, home of Camp Lejeune and the 2nd Mar Div, best in the world at killing people and breaking things (true mission of the Military). After a few years of almost constant deployments ( 27 months of the 36 I spent there) then I was back to Japan, this time to Okinowa for a year, and I found a different culture then the main land. Did you know, before Japan lost the second world war, Okinowa was a separate country? after the war the US government added it to Japan. I was only deployed 1 time while in Okinowa, that was to Korea for Team Spirit 89. Then I went back to MCAS New River. Due to funding cuts our deployment schedule had been reduced to almost none, but when the gulf war started we were called to deploy a full suite of gear to support the war effort, I guess I forgot to tell you what I did, I was an Electronics Technician in a Mobile Air Traffic Control Unit, we were able to provide all weather ATC Services in support of operations world wide. While in the Gulf, our unit (MATCS-28 Det "I") set several records, we set up the only full IFR ATC facility in country in 3 different locations and passed Flight Checks in each spot, operated for 4 months with no appreciable Down time and no parts support to speak of. The last place we set up was Kuwate International Airport in Kuwate City only a few day's after the city was liberated buy the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions. A few months after I returned to the real world, again appreciating our country all the more, I was stationed in MCALF Bogue Field, and served there for the last few years before I retired. I retired on the last day of June 1996, after 20 years of honorable if not distinguished service.

I spent the last month on Leave, I visited our nations capitol, where I went to the Speaker Of The Houses office to get a copy of His book signed, and ended up in New York City on my last day in the Corps, as a Guest on the Rush Limbaugh Television Show. I then drove here to Texas and became a College kid, grew a beard and long hair and made some good friends. I moved into my current home last July and have been slowly fixing it up for My Landlord, but then I rent from my Brother in law :-). I am currently enrolled here at Tarlton in the Bachelors of Computer Science plan, and I'm taking a full load, or what they call a full load, if I have time for this page, I must not be as busy at school as they think I should.

Things I Enjoy

landscaping
To reform a yard from a patch of grass and some bushes to something enjoyable to look at, even perhaps a work of art.
Computers
Mostly for games, and other like things to waste time, I also like the ability to find people who think like me and talk to them for hours at a time
Talking Politics
I enjoy and will talk politics at the drop of a hat, I am secure in my views, and will try use logic to change your mind if you are misinformed (Misinformed, that's if you don't agree with me :-).)

Things I dislike

Liberal Gobbledygook
People that just quote the lines but are unwilling to intelligently discuss their views, the favorite lines are "The Republicans are for Poisoning the Water" (like we don't drink it!) "The Republicans want to Starve Children" (even our own!) and "Conservatives want to Pollute the Air" (as if we can live without breathing!) I also thought of this for an answer to the starving children thing, at least we let the child be born before we starve them, instead of killing them before they even have a chance to live.
Welfare and other Handouts
Welfare has been about the biggest cause of the decline of the Two Parent Family and the failure of good people to strive to fulfill their potential. It has trapped whole families in a system that is worse then Slavery, because in this case people have chosen to sell themselves into a voluntary slavery and are led to believe they can do no better. In the land of Free Enterprise, Welfare has even taken away the will of people to try to break even, let alone get ahead.
